Due to how ultrasonic humidification works, one of the very confusing and often misrepresented attributes of ultrasonic humidification is why reverse osmosis water is essential for your ultrasonic humidifier to last for years. Transducers are located at the bottom of the basin and, while running, resonate approximately 2Mz, breaking up the waterbed to a point where the water cannot keep up with the speed of the transducers, which generates mist. Virtually every mineral in the water, primarily calcium, is shattered and picked up in the mist. This leads to what is referred to as “White Dust” getting everywhere in your environment. The true damage is the minerals that settle on the transducers. Within a short time, these very delicate transducers cannot generate mist, which is why we highly encourage a reverse osmosis system to provide water for your system.
